Augering

Every fence, pole barn, and deck starts the same way: holes in the ground, straight, plumb, on layout, and to depth. Hand augers and rental units fight you in our clay, quit at the first rock, and wander off plumb. Machine augering puts the hole where the plan says, every time.

Skid steer with auger attachment drilling post holes

What this covers

  • Post holes for fences and gates
  • Pole barn post layouts
  • Deck and pergola footings
  • Hole diameter and depth matched to the plan
  • Spoil cleanup or removal
  • Old post and concrete removal

Straight holes, correct depth

Posts fail from bad holes: too shallow to get below frost, bellied out at the top, or drifted off the line. We drill to the depth the job calls for, western Ohio frost depth included, with the diameter matched to the post and the concrete collar it needs.

Fence lines, pole barns, and decks

One gate post or two hundred feet of fence line, deck footings behind the house or a full pole barn layout, the same machine handles all of it. For layout work we drill on your marks or set the line with you before the first hole.

Our ground, honestly

This part of Ohio is heavy clay with the occasional glacial surprise. Clay we handle all day. If we hit rock or old foundation rubble that changes the picture, you hear about it immediately, not on the invoice.

While the machine is there

Augering pairs naturally with the rest of what we do, grading the fence line, removing the old posts and concrete, hauling off the spoil. If we are already on your property, added work costs less than a second mobilization.

Augering: quick answers

How deep do post holes need to be here?

Below frost depth for anything structural, in our area that generally means 32 to 36 inches or deeper depending on the build. Your barn or deck plan rules; we drill to it.

Do you set the posts too?

We drill, clean out, and can help with layout. Setting and framing is your builder's territory, and staying in our lane keeps everybody's warranty clean.

What if you hit rock?

We tell you, show you, and talk options before going further. No surprise charges, finding out what is under your ground should not cost extra drama.
